Programme Outcome: The Under Graduate in English Majordeals mostly with English literature and its history. The course also includesWomen’s Writing, Nature Writing, Literary Theory and Criticism, Linguistics,Film Studies, American Literature. It makes the students familiar withdifferent literary genres – fiction, non-fiction, poetry, plays, biography,autobiography, journal, film, plays, etc.

Programme Specific Outcome: The course familiarizes students withthe main events, conflicts and inventions of Great Britain, to comprehendliterary texts written by great writers of English from the ancient to themodern times. It enables them to apply critical frameworks to analyse linguistic,cultural and historical background of texts written in English and also makesthem sensitive and aware of social issues. Knowledge in grammar and usage andlinguistic structure of the English language will develop the communicativeskills of the students. Course Outcome: The course will enable students toacquire sound comprehension of social, cultural, biographical, historicalbackground of British and other European literature, American literature,Indian Writing in English. As the course is basically multi-disciplinary thestudents have a lot of career-options – teaching, News Media, CommunicationMedia, Tourism Industry, as Air Hostess etc. They can opt for further studiesin English, Linguistics, Culture Studies, Folklore, MBA, Mass Communication,Tourism, Law etc.
